Warm Bacon-Brown
Sugar Vinaigrette (Makes1 cup)
• 1/2 cup
smoked bacon
• 1/2 cup
olive oil
• 1 1/2
tablespoons balsamic vinegar
• 1/4 cup
dark brown sugar
• 1 1/2
teaspoons spicy mustard
• 2
tablespoons minced shallots
• 1/8
teaspoon salt
• 1/8
teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Render bacon. Remove
from pan. Add shallots. Saute for 1 minutes. Add remaining ingredients and heat gently
until sugar is melted, about 2 minutes. Add bacon and incorporate into dressing.
Drizzle over greens and serve.
Bananas Foster (Serves 6)
- 5 tablespoons butter
- 1 cup packed light brown
sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon Alchemy Sweet
Spice – Wake and Bake
- 5-6 ripe bananas, peeled and
sliced
- 3/4 cup rum or brandy
- 2 pints vanilla ice cream
Directions
Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium
heat. Add the brown sugar and Alchemy Spice, and cook, stirring, until the sugar
dissolves, about 2 minutes. Add the bananas and cook until they start to soften
and brown, about 2 minutes. Carefully add the alcohol and shake the pan back
and forth to warm the rum or brandy and flame the pan. (Or, off the heat,
carefully ignite the pan with a match.) Shake the pan back and forth, basting
the bananas, until the flame dies.
